Your Split Advice: Key Advice for Aspiring Bowlers
I regularly hear from a Nintendo Wii bowler hoping to take on the game of bowling with improved precision and consistency. If that’s the case, you’re in the midsts of a key time in learning the game as a real student of the game. This introduction to A Bowler’s Development may take your game to new levels. Pros in a local bowling pro shop can help bowlers develop bowling skills. We like to say, roll strikes if can spare ‘em (hehe). That’s a joke. Fine, bowling is a simple game with not-so simple details. No worry, we’ll get you bowling your way.
Most importantly, get a knowledgeable friend to help you purchase the specialized bowling balls and shoes required to bowl competiviely. Rentals and house balls suck. It’s no joke, get your favorite ball fitted, and you’ll never go back. A carefully drilled bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. Of course another critical matter is benefiting from actual bowling shoes that smell fresh, look good and help your foot work.
If you already found your bowling ball and shoes, you’re ready for the number two piece of bowling advice: aiming the ball. If you stand, don’t actually aim for your actual target, the pins. Use the points about 15 feet down the lane, like a sling shot. What’s the point? It’s less difficult to hit a mark much nearer. To take full advantage, include it as part of your routine to line-up at the same position 4 steps from the foul line with every roll. Only then you can fine-tune your aim using the arrows in the lane.
What do you make of spin, to get proper speed and ball control? That makes our next best piece of bowling advice. It’s all in the ball type. Actually, us who were bown to bowl travel with several types of bowling balls to pull off heavy pin action, depending on where they are. Just a bit of caution: greenhorns should work with just one, and steer clear of a ball that weighs a ton. Many semi-pro bowlers travel with bowling balls featuring reactive surface. But these balls can make even moderately good players appear silly. That’s our first 3 bowling tips. A pro from our bowling shop will return next week.

My friends and I bowl with Team “Pindemonium” for the operation at a major bowling ball retailer near Kansas City. I chime in with advice to all bowlers at my blog and at the lanes. Also, I should plug all my heavy rollers back home. Best of luck.
