Flopping Two Pair

Flopping two pair in online poker always feels great. Most people will assume, when they make such a hand, that they are likely ahead in the hand and on their way to winning a pot. Some players, too, become so confident in their two pair that they immediately sink into the idea that they should slowplay the handthough in reality, two pair is quite a vulnerable hand, and should more often than not be protected.

Pretty much no matter what your poker online opponent is holding against you, if they have any piece of the flop, they have outs, and often ones that you might not see when they are completed. In most cases, especially with several other players in the pot, it is smarter to bet out and protect a hand as strong but weak as two pair, as taking it easy can get you in trouble.

Another important consideration for two pair is which two pair you are holding. If you have the bottom two pair on the board (for instance, the flop is 4 6 J and you have 4 6), any higher card coming above your six is a scare card for you. You probably don’t want your opponent to see cards cheaply. Top and bottom pair (in the instance above, you hold 4 J instead) is a bit more strong, as there are less cards that can break your hand, but also more vital to protect than, say, top two pair.

Overall, though it is often a winning poker online hand, two pair is not a walk in the park.
